So we've started and things are going well. Its taken a few days to get the food ratios right but I've already concocted some great recipes!
We are mostly working out in the mornings before work and will give a full round up of week 1 on Sunday. Overall I feel full of energy and just great other than the achey muscles :)
The de Gouveia's do P90x
Our journey to gain supreme fitness (and look awesome)
After living a lazy and gluttonous life in London for years, we moved to Nottinghamshire in January 2009. From then on we have gone from strength to strength to get fit and healthy. Both self confessed foodies, this is never easy and felt like we needed a push to get to the next level and have taken the step to do P90x. Not only is this a challenge physically for us but a chance for Gemma to start using and sharing her healthy recipes. Eating well doesn’t mean eating bland and we are both firm believers in this.

Getting rid of the bad stuff and a last hurrah
So the past few weeks have all been about getting rid of the bad stuff in our cupboards and freezer. It's been refreshing to see that we have barely any processed food in the house and generally speaking we have good diets. We can't bear to throw food away in this household so we are gradually eating through the slightly fattier elements to our freezer.
This is probably not in the spirit of p90x :)
We also had one last hurrah last night and had one too many drinks but now we hate alcohol :) We've agreed that in phase 1 we won't drink at all and once we are over that we'll treat us to the occasional beverage.
Today is officially Day 0 so we'll be doing our measurements and before shots later.
In the meantime I'll leave you with this image of the food shop

So P90x, why?
Why not ;) After sustaining a bad foot injury 10 months ago I (Gemma) have really struggled to keep my fitness on track which for me is deeply depressing. After working hard on my swimming and cycling I have managed to 'maintain' my fitness levels, but the infuriating thing is not being able to go to the next level or improve much.
After careful consideration and with dream trip to South Africa in the diary for January me and my husband have decided to go for it after admiring the power of P90x from afar.
We are both pretty excited and start on the 8th October, we look forward to not only the physical challenge, but the challenge of making great healthy tasty food and still zapping our never ending appetites, oh and obviously seeing the results. We'll be recording our journey (good times and bad) and it wont just end after 90 days.
To date I've been trialling out the workouts and seeing what I'm letting myself in for as well as trying to get some kind of upper body fitness going on.... Years of building power in my legs and I lost the power in my arms!
So far impressed, it's rare I find a home workout that really pushes me and even with 3 workouts a week, I'm noticing some changes. We have already made adjustments to our diet but still allowing treats and have been off the rice/potato starchy carbs for a month now, not missing them at all.
Think that's all for now, I'll get our posts short and sweet :)
